Dish Network, AT & T extend marketing partnership
After saying in July that it would end its five-year commercial agreement with Dish Network by the end of this year, AT&T and the satellite provider have agreed to extend the reseller partnership until Jan. 31 of next year.
According to Reuters, the decision to extend the partnership by one month was in a regulatory filing from yesterday.
Earlier this year, AT&T had said it would end a reseller agreement with DirecTV Group, but both satellite operators are expected to bid for an exclusive marketing partnership.
“We appreciate Dish Network/EchoStar cooperating with us as we continue to evaluate our DBS options going forward,” AT&T said in a statement.
Reselling Dish or DirecTV gives AT&T the third leg of a triple play of services in areas where its own U-verse video service isn’t up and running, while the satellite providers benefit from being able to package voice and Internet services with their video offerings.
