Widevine Technologies said that its multiplatform video content security solution will be embedded on CinemaNow’s ‘CE Store’ to deliver Hollywood content, TV shows and music videos to a wide range of consumer electronics (CE) devices and PCs.

The devices will include those manufactured by LG, Samsung, Phillips, Mitsubishi and Nintendo, as well as Blu-ray disc players.

Widevine’s open digital rights management (DRM) and digital copy protection solution enables online CinemaNow users to purchase, stream and download movies, TV shows and music videos, regardless of their computing platform or browser.

As the market for Internet-connected retail devices continues to drive Internet video demand, operators and service providers (telco, cable and satellite) must be able to securely deliver content to a wide range of platforms.

According to the company, Widevine is the only content security provider that can enable operators to bridge their video delivery infrastructure to new retail devices, including mobile devices, PCs and media players.
