SCTE offering seminars to prepare industry for DTV transition
The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) is set to offer a six-part series of live, online seminars to prepare the cable industry for the upcoming digital transition.
Entitled “DTV: Strategies for a Smooth Transition,” the series of sessions are designed to ensure that cable’s networks and personnel – both technical and non-technical – are prepared for the transition. The seminars are also intended to serve cable-related management, equipment vendors, local government municipalities, contractors, and broadcasters.
The sessions will address the network and operational aspects of the DTV transition as the process moves from preparation and implementation to maintenance and customer management, the SCTE said.
The seminars will be held online, but they will also be paired with a collaboration site for interaction with cable industry leaders, broadcasters and equipment vendors. The site will provide updated information, relevant Web links, and the ability to communicate with peers and discuss strategies for the DTV transition – from the first seminar session, set for Sept. 24, through July 2009.
The first of the six seminars will be conducted on Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. ET, and the final seminar is set for March 19, 2009.
Anyone who is interested in participating in the seminars is welcome. The sessions are free for SCTE members, but registration is required. Seminar titles and descriptions, and registration for the entire series or individual seminars, are available here.
