Comcast has formed an agreement with hhgregg, a regional retailer of consumer electronics. As part of the agreement, many hhgregg stores will sell Comcast digital cable, high-definition (HD), high-speed Internet and digital voice services, allowing new customers to sign up for service and schedule installations in-store, as well as receive in-depth product information and learn about new offerings, Comcast said.
“You wouldn’t buy a toy without also bringing home the batteries. The same goes for best-in-class service when firing up a new phone, computer or HD television,” said Bob Faught, senior vice president of retail sales and alternative sales channels for Comcast. “Our goal is to work with hhgregg to help customers experience instant gratification, knowing they’ll be live with Comcast when they set up their new electronic equipment at home. This is another example of our continuous effort to make our products available at America’s best retail locations – giving our customers what they want, when it’s most convenient for them.”
Comcast will be featured in nearly half of the 96 hhgregg locations nationwide. Each Comcast-equipped store will have a Comcast display with an interactive HDTV so customers can learn about the features of Comcast’s services and products. Stores that have a live Comcast feed will have Comcast digital cable and HD, with a set-top box and a remote available to allow customers to experience these services.
Customers can sign up in-store for Comcast’s services, and they can take advantage of offers on double- and triple-play packages, as well. Comcast-trained representatives will be available to speak with customers and help them select the right service for the product they are purchasing, the MSO said.
New customers will receive a gift check of up to $100 for any one product purchase, and up to $250 with a triple-play purchase, according to Comcast.
