Arris’ Q2 revenue increases 3%
Arris’ second-quarter revenue of $281 million increased by almost 3 percent compared with its first-quarter revenue of $273.5 million.
Arris earned $9.4 million, or 8 cents per share, in the second quarter, compared with $23.3 million, or 21 cents per share, a year earlier. Excluding items, Arris, whose customers include Time Warner Cable and Comcast, earned 15 cents per share. Some analysts were expecting earnings of 14 cents per share and revenue of $278.6 million.
Arris said its order backlog increased to $206 million at the end of the second quarter, as compared with $147 million at the end of the first quarter. Book-to-bill ratio in the second quarter was 1.21.
Arris predicted earnings of 19 cents to 24 cents per share for the third quarter, and revenue of $288 million to $308 million.
"We enter the second half of 2008 with a strong order book and an improving margin profile," said David Potts, Arris’ executive vice president and CFO. "I am also very pleased with the solid progress that we have made with the integration of C-Cor and the progress that we have made toward the overall financial goals that we outlined at our Investor Conference in March.”
