SCTE Expo exhibit hall sells out; SCTE Foundation board grows
The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) announced that the more than 138,000-square-foot exhibit hall for the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2008 is sold out.
And individuals interested in attending the Expo only have until Friday to take advantage of the $100 pre-registration savings. The SCTE is expecting 10,000-plus attendees.
With the theme “Engineering History in the Making,” SCTE’s Expo ’08 is set for June 24–27 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
Meanwhile, the SCTE Foundation has added four new members to its board of directors: Chris Bowick of Cox Communications, Jim Hughes of CommScope, Mike LaJoie of Time Warner Cable and Ken Wright of Arris.
The SCTE Foundation’s board now stands 10 members strong. The four additions join Keith Hayes of Charter Communications, the Foundation’s president; John Clark of SCTE, the Foundation’s VP; Greg Allshouse of Comcast, the Foundation’s treasurer; Mike Phebus of Jones/NCTI, the Foundation’s secretary; Bob Gold of Bob Gold & Associates; and Yvette Gordon-Kanouff of SeaChange.
The SCTE Foundation’s primary mission is to provide expanded educational opportunities for SCTE members to assist them in their professional development within cable and telecommunications engineering. It was established by the SCTE board of directors in 2005 and began issuing grants in 2006. The Foundation has helped more than 40 SCTE members with a combined total of approximately $70,000.
