Pico Macom offers digital to analog demodulator
Pico Macom is billing its MPD demodulator as a cost-effective solution for the digital-to-analog conversion.
The MPD will accept any digital signal, 8-VSB or unencrypted QAM digital RF signal, and convert it to baseband video and left and right stereo audio outputs. The MPD demodulator can receive all of the 18 ATSC video formats, including HD video, and convert them for display on both analog and digital television sets. Pico Macom showcased both the MPD and the MPD-CPS power supply/controller at the Steren Electronics Group booth.
The MPD decodes 8-VSB, 64-QAM and 256-QAM (Annex B) digital RF signals in the frequency range 54 to 860 MHz. It provides space for up to 10 MPD modules in a 2-rack unit. Other features include stereo output, a front panel indicator LED to monitor input, and 8-VSB or QAM signal lock.
Pico Macom also exhibited its Tru-Spec WS3G Series of diode steered splitters, which are available in 2-, 3- and 4-port configurations. Each splitter offers performance over 5 MHz to 3 GHz, suitable for present digital and analog applications as well as future requirements of wide-bandwidth applications. The splitters’ insertion loss, isolation and return loss performance ensure high-quality signal transfer. The diode-protected circuitry allows the DC power to pass from any output to the input and prevents DC backfeeding.
