Macrovision Solutions is set to acquire certain Web site and technology assets from ThoughtWorthy Media.

ThoughtWorthy’s technology platform allows TV viewers to identify, research and purchase music, products and advertising online after viewing them on TV. Macrovision said that it plans to make use of the data across its platforms, including online and mobile.

“ThoughtWorthy’s technology adds another exciting dimension to our metadata offerings,” said Paul Greenberg, EVP and GM of TV Guide Online at Macrovision. “By enabling TV fans to go to TVGuide.com and obtain comprehensive data and purchase the music they hear on their favorite TV shows, we are building on our vision to bring consumers a more enjoyable, fulfilling digital home entertainment experience.”

The acquisition was previously entered into and executed by Gemstar-TV Guide in January. Macrovision recently completed its acquisition of Gemstar-TV Guide for nearly $3 billion.

The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed but were not material to the financial operations of Gemstar prior to its acquisition by Macrovision, the company said.

Macrovision Solutions enables the digital home entertainment experience by allowing businesses to protect, enhance and distribute digital goods to consumers across multiple channels. Today, the company provides connected middleware; metadata on music, games, movies and TV programming; media recognition; interactive programming guides; and copyright protection.
