Tandberg Television is set to debut its RX8320 ATSC Broadcast Receiver, which eases the digital transition for cable operators, at The Cable Show '08 in New Orleans next week.

The receiver was developed specifically to help cable operators re-create analog signals for their subscribers after the broadcasters turn off their analog signals on Feb. 17, 2009. The unit has been designed to pass through the incoming digital signals as required by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), as well as to turn high-definition (HD) signals into analog NTSC for legacy analog subscribers, TandbergTV said.

TandbergTV will also debut its next-generation MediaPath Secure Content Delivery System (SCDS), which offers content providers, as well as network operators and their affiliates, a scalable, end-to-end solution for the secure point to multi-point delivery of non-linear digital HD and standard-definition (SD) TV programs, as well as any other file-based content, including video-on-demand (VOD) programs, advertising, music and games.

With the MediaPath Secure Content Delivery system, media assets can be delivered to receiver locations serving set-top boxes (STBs), PCs and mobile media players, and delivery options include MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC.

At the show, TandbergTV will also be showcasing its Universal EdgeQAM, the EQ8096, which enables a clear migration to IP; the OpenStream Digital Services platform, an open standards-based VOD back office solution; an advanced compression demo, featuring a "3 into 1" HD MPEG-2 solution; IMS applications; and a solution for broadband television.
