Motorola upgrades software for CherryPicker platform
Motorola has announced the latest software upgrade for its CherryPicker platform, which includes MPEG-2 rate shaping.
With the software upgrade, the CherryPicker Application Platform (CAP-1000) now has full Gigabit Ethernet support and MPEG-2 rate shaping to go with its existing MPEG-4 capabilities.
The new version also features a scalable element manager that uses current infrastructure to support addressable advertising, while offering the flexibility to scale for higher-density scenarios in the future. The CAP-1000 and its enhanced software were developed by utilizing the code base of the widely deployed DM6400 CherryPicker.
The CherryPicker technology was first developed by Terayon, which Motorola bought last year for $140 million (story here).
