Gemstar-TV Guide announced today that it has inked a new, multi-year licensing agreement with Mitsubishi Electric.

The deal extends Mitsubishi’s current license to use Gemstar-TV Guide’s interactive program guide technology in its digital TVs and DVRs in Japan. The new agreement also includes the recently launched digital G-Guide IPG, which Gemstar-TV Guide adapted specifically for the Japanese market. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The G-Guide IPG is built directly into consumer electronics products, which means no additional subscription fee or phone connection is required.
