The inexorable expansion of the U-verse continues apace, as AT&T introduced VoIP in its system in Kansas City, Kan.

U-verse Voice Unlimited, which includes unlimited local and nationwide minutes to any location in the U.S., Canada or U.S. territories, is $40 a month. The Voice 1000 package includes 1,000 Call Anywhere minutes to any location in the U.S. or U.S. territories for $30 a month. A second phone line can be added for $20 a month.

Meanwhile, the company has expanded the number of HD channels available in Fairfield County in Connecticut, which includes Stamford, and also in New Haven and in Hartford.

The channels available in Stamford are WPIX HD (CW-NYC), WTXX HD (CW-Hartford/New Haven), WNET HD (PBS), WWOR HD (My Network-NYC), and WCTX HD (My Network-Hartford/New Haven). Customers will also receive WNYE (IND) as part of their basic programming packages.

In New Haven and Hartford, AT&T added WCTX HD (My Network), WNET HD (PBS) and WTXX HD (CW).

The additions bring the total number of HD channels available via U-verse in Fairfield County to 49, and to 44 in New Haven/Hartford. AT&T asserts both numbers are greater than local cable providers offer.

U-verse HD is available for $10 a month with any U-verse TV programming package. All U-verse TV packages include HD-ready equipment, and most include an HD-capable DVR.
