MotorolaHarmonic and Arris will be showing a combined demonstration at next week’s CableLabs Winter Conference in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Motorola said the demonstration is the first of switched digital video (SDV) in a multi-vendor environment.

The demonstration will show platform compatibility with multiple electronic program guides (EPGs) and open standard QAM devices, including products from Harmonic and Arris, and from Motorola - the SmartStream Encryptor Modulator (SEM) and All-Purpose EdgeQAM (APEX) platform.

"Switched digital video is one of the first tools that operators are reaching for in an effort to increase bandwidth availability," said Buddy Snow, senior director of on-demand video for Motorola. "By delivering an open switched digital platform, Motorola is accelerating operators' ability to generate new revenue from advanced consumer offerings like HDTV and video-on-demand, as well as from high-value advertising services."
