EGT and Weintraub Telecomm LLC (WeiTel) announced today a strategic alliance, whereby WeiTel will sell, market, install and support EGT’s HEMi Headend Micro encoding solutions within North America.

The alliance between EGT and WeiTel was designed to help video service providers as they convert to all-digital networks.

The company’s strategic alliance will combine EGT’s HEMi Headend Micro product line and WeiTel’s sales, engineering and installation expertise.

“The EGT HEMi is the leading solution for digital channel insertion at the edge of the network,” said Bruce Weintraub, founder and president of WeiTel. “Video service providers are competing for the valuable MDU subscriber base, and together with EGT, WeiTel can provide the equipment, as well as the engineering and integration expertise, to seamlessly insert local channels into those communities and recapture valuable analog bandwidth.”
