Pace Micro Technology has launched a new family of CableCARD-enabled digital set-tops in anticipation of the coming FCC ban on boxes with integrated security.

Pace said it has built CableCARD versions of its dual-tuner Tahoe HD DVR, Vegas SD DVR, and its newest family member, the Miami HD.

The Miami model (DC757X HD) can be deployed as a standalone non-DVR HD box. DVR capabilities can be added, however, via the set-top's external Serial-ATA hard disk drive port. The model also supports out-of-band signaling and DOCSIS Set-top Gateway (DSG) signaling.

Pace is introducing the models this week at the CableLabs Winter Conference, which runs March 4-7 at the Hyatt Regency in Denver.

Although several downloadable conditional access system (DCAS) initiatives are underway, most operators are expected to comply with the July 2007 integration ban using set-tops with CableCARDs.
