Cox Communications has added wireless phone service from Sprint to its bundle in Arizona and in San Diego, Calif. Cox has taken several steps to integrate wireless service with the services in the traditional triple play, including enabling subscribers to access their e-mail through their mobile phones.

The Cox-Sprint bundle is among the first manifestations of the joint venture formed last year between Sprint and Cox, Comcast Corp., Time Warner Cable, and Advance/Newhouse.

Cox subs can also receive free text alerts on their wireless phones every time a voice mail is left at their Cox Digital Telephone home numbers.

Integration of bundle elements extends to calling plans that include unlimited calls to and from each subscriber's Cox Digital Telephone home number. Home Forwarding allows customers to receive their incoming wireless calls at their Cox Digital Telephone home number, without using plan minutes or paying any additional fees.

Other features of Cox's wireless service are options commonly available to Sprint subscribers, including the ability to watch TV programming such as content from ABC News Now, ESPN 3G and The Weather Channel. Cox subs will also be able to get their local Cox TV listings.

Cox customers can also surf the Web; join Web-based chat rooms and instant message; download full-length songs from the Sprint Music Store; play multi-player games; and send and receive Sprint Picture Mail.

Cox said it will introduce wireless service in additional markets in 2007, and will also introduce other integrated features throughout the year.
