The number of broadband Internet users in South Korea grew in January but the digital gap between urban and rural areas remained wide, a government report showed Thursday.
According to the report by the Ministry of Information and Communication, 14.1 million South Koreans had access to the broadband Internet as of the end of January, up 600,000 from a month earlier.
* The January figure represented 28.96 percent of the nation's population of 48.7 million, it said.
* Most Internet users, however, are concentrated in major cities, highlighting a wide gap in the Internet environment between residents of urban and rural areas, the report showed.
