HomePNA expands membership
HomePNA, a high-speed networking platform designed to run on home phonelines as well as coax, said it has added 28 members to the alliance, including companies that make chipsets, set-tops, gateways and test gear.
HomePNA’s next-gen project, version 3.1, is designed to deliver theoretical speeds of up to 320 Mbps and support networked IP video, including content in HD format. HomePNA released the 3.1 certification specs to members last month.
Among the latest to join the cause is broadband test specialist JDSU.
“Joining the alliance was a strategic decision,” said JDSU SVP Dave Holly, in a release. JDSU is also a member of the Multimedia over Coax Alliance, a competing high-speed home networking platform.
Scientific Atlanta, Conexant and Sunrise Telecom are also among new “promoter members” and board directors for HomePNA. Others new to HomePNA include Analog Devices and Janifast Corp.
