Broadband briefs for 12/20/06
* Sandvine DPI deployed in Austrian cable system
Sandvine announced that LiWest Kabelmedien GmbH, the second largest cable operator in Austria, has deployed Sandvine's suite of DPI-based policy solutions.
The installation covers LiWest's 40,000 broadband subscribers. LiWest is using the Sandvine system to diagnose congestion problems, and ensure quality of service for popular and sensitive applications, while mitigating unwanted malicious traffic that was affecting valuable subscriber traffic like VoIP and gaming.
* Trompeter gains in customer ratings
Trompeter, a producer of RF interconnect products, said it was ranked tenth in the 2006 Bishop & Associates Connector Industry Survey, jumping up four positions from last year.
Trompeter executives attribute the increase in performance ratings by customers to process improvements implemented in 2005 during the company's consolidation of operations in its Mesa, Ariz. manufacturing facility.
