EchoStar profits dip, while subscribers rise above expectations
EchoStar Communications Corp. posted a Q3 profit of $140 million, down from $209 million in the year-ago period, but revenues jumped 16 percent to $2.47 billion.
The DBS giant also posted Q3 gross adds of 958,000 subs, and net adds of 295,000, ahead of analyst estimates. Citigroup Investment Research, for example, estimated 875,000 gross adds and 195,000 net adds.
EchoStar's churn of 1.76 percent also was below Citigroup's forecast of 1.81 percent.
