Shaw Communications of Canada has launched a fall marketing campaign that offers the MSO's IP telephony service at the introductory price of $29.95.

The introductory price is good for the first three months of service, which offers unlimited calls to Canada and the U.S., and 1,000 international minutes to Europe, the United Kingdom and the Asia Pacific region.

"Every 96 seconds we are installing a new Shaw Digital Phone customer," said Shaw President Peter Bissonnette, in a release.

The company, which reported almost 170,000 VoIP subs as of May 31, said its PacketCable network is logging about 500,000 overseas calls per month.

Shaw has been locking horns with Vonage Canada recently over the MSO's voluntary $10 per month Quality of Service Enhancement service package. While Shaw is offering it as an option designed to improve VoIP services from third parties, Vonage has countered that the package is tantamount to a "VoIP tax."
