Wavesat and Texas Instruments are working together to develop a 5.8 GHz Mini-PCI module and reference design. The reference design is scheduled to be available by Q4 of 2006 from Wavesat.

The design is for a development platform that should help OEMs develop their own WiMAX systems incorporating Wavesat's Evolutive WiMAX DM256 chip and TI's family of WiMAX-optimized radio frequency (RF) ICs.

The reference design will be based on the WiMAX Forum profile, not the final standard, so the design will allow for upgrades to address further changes driven by the WiMAX emerging market dynamics, application diversity and customer profiles.
