MobiTV adds $70M to war chest
MobiTV scored $70 million in its latest funding round. The lead investor in MobiTV's Series C financing was Oak Investment Partners, which got itself a seat on MobiTV's board of directors.
MobiTV said it plans to use the recent infusion of funds to provide even more television content on more devices, across more networks, and in more countries around the world.
MobiTV provides television and digital radio for cellular, WiFi and broadband-enabled devices, and now claims more than 1 million paying subscribers across three continents, including new markets in Latin America. The company recently expanded to deliver its service to personal computers across WiFi and other broadband networks.
MobiTV is available through Sprint, Cingular and Alltel in the U.S.; Bell Canada, Rogers and TELUS in Canada; 3 and Orange in the United Kingdom; and America Movil in Latin America.
