Verizon, the Association of Public Television Stations http://www.apts.org (APTS), and PBS http://www.pbs.org (Public Broadcasting Service) have entered an agreement for Verizon to carry the digital feed of local public television stations via the telco’s FiOS TV service.

Under the multi-year agreement, every Verizon FiOS TV system will carry the full digital signal of up to three public television stations within the system's service area, as well as any additional noncommercial station that does not duplicate programming of another station in the market.

The agreement also includes PBS and local public television stations’ HDTV programming and local stations’ digital multicasts.

The deal with Verizon is similar to an agreement (http://www.cedmagazine.com/article/CA6264893.html) APTS announced with the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (http://www.ncta.com) in February.
