Pace Micro Technology has developed a digital video recorder (DVR) system based on the OpenCable Application Platform (OCAP), a middleware specified by CableLabs

Pace said the entrant adheres to the newly-developed OCAP DVR spec (0C-SP-OCAP-I02).

The set-top box maker built the system in partnership with Alticast, which has integrated its AltiCaptor OCAP 1.0 middleware with Pace boxes. Pace plans to show off the combo at next week's SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in Denver.

Pace said it will apply the spec to all current and future OCAP-based DVR set-tops, starting with the Tahoe TDC775, a digital box that supports dual-tuners and high-definition television.

"We are on track to have a leading high-definition DVR OCAP-based platform for operators to make the transition to OCAP," said Pace VP of Technology Chris Dinallo, in a statement.

In January, several major U.S. MSOs disclosed significant rollout plans for OCAP at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
