OneLink hooks up BigBand CMTS
OneLink Communications has completed deployment of the BigBand Networks Inc. Cuda cable modem termination system (CMTS). The Puerto Rico-based operator selected this platform to replace another unidentified supplier's equipment in its upgrade to DOCSIS 2.0.
OneLink Communications was formed in 2005 as an independently financed entity spun out from Adelphia Communications. It claims 138,000 subscribers in the greater San Juan area.
OneLink said it uses the BigBand BMR as a platform to control its digital broadcast television offerings. It implemented the Cuda CMTS during 2005 to provide subscribers with multi-megabit per second broadband Internet access.
