* Alticast tunes in Bonin
Jeff Bonin, formerly of OCAP specialist Vidiom Systems, has been named vice president of business development and marketing for Alticast Inc.

Alticast, which recently formed an OCAP relationship with set-top maker Pace Micro Technology, builds and markets middleware and app development tools for OCAP, MHP, Blu-Ray and MPEG-5.

* Time Warner waxes wireless with Alcatel
Time Warner Cable's Southwest Division is using microwave radio equipment from Alcatel to extend services wirelessly to customers beyond the reach of traditional cable plant.

* Ex Napster exec joins Gemstar
Alan Cohen, most recently the chief marketing officer (CMO) for Napster, has joined Gemstar-TV Guide as executive VP and CMO.

In that role, Cohen will head up brand management, licensing and merchandising, and corporate research. He will also work across Gemstar divisions in an effort to form strategic marketing partnerships that operate across platforms.
