Adaptix is introducing a new family of end-to-end mobile networking products, including its new BX-3000 base station line and SX series of mobile terminals, all based on its Software Defined Radio (SDR) architecture.

The company claims its family of IP-based OFDMA micro base stations will cost a fraction of what large, macro platforms will, while offering substantially better per-sector and per-user performance over 3G.

The BX-3000 supports standards-based QoS for services such as VoIP and Mobile IPTV. Advanced functionality such as Gigabit Ethernet backhaul, dynamic IP routing with mobility, and Smart Antenna technologies such as multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) are also supported. The BX-3000 also supports high-speed optical interfaces with up to three outdoor RF units.

Adaptix's new SX series of Mobile Terminals are designed for fixed, portable or vehicular use, and support peak throughput of more than 10 Mbps.

The company's SDR architecture allows for software upgrades to new features such as MIMO as well as new services based on OFDMA beyond Mobile WiMAX. Next Generation PHS, 3GPP's Long Term Evolution (LTE), and the IEEE's 802.22 are all emerging standards considering OFDMA as their base physical layer standard.
