Promptu lands former LSI Logic exec as CEO
LSI Logic veteran Giuseppe Staffaroni has joined Promptu (formerly AgileTV) as chief executive officer. Staffaroni will also serve on the company's board of directors. Former CEO Paul Cook will remain as chairman of Promptu's board.
Staffaroni spent nearly 15 years at LSI Logic, most recently serving as EVP of the company's Consumer Products Group, a business unit providing leading-edge solutions for residential broadband gateways, cable, satellite and terrestrial set-top boxes, DVD players and recorders, game consoles, digital audio players, and wireless handsets. In this role, he oversaw marketing, product and business development, and engineering of LSI Logic's standard products and system-on-a-chip solutions for customers in the broadband access, broadband entertainment, and wireless markets.
Prior to LSI Logic, Staffaroni worked in various technology and management positions at Texas Instruments, AT&T Microelectronics, and Zeltron, a unit of Electrolux.
Promptu's technology lets people use voice commands to navigate and initiate searches for cable television or on mobile phones. Previously focused on serving the cable television industry exclusively, the company recently expanded its focus to serve cable, mobile, and other emerging markets.
