Hicks, DirecTV make MDU moves
Hicks Holdings LLC and DirecTV have formed a division that will market a single-bill bundle of voice, video, data and security services to the U.S. multiple-dwelling unit (MDUs) sector.
The venture, called DirecPath, will feature digital satellite video services from co-investor DirecTV.
The companies will sell DirecPath to MDUs, a group that includes property owners and residents of high-rise condos, apartment buildings and "gated communities."
DirecPath has tapped cable vet Paul Savoldelli as CEO. Savoldelli most recently served as CEO of Davivo Management Group, which oversees Latin American cable properties for HM Capital Partners. Savoldelli also co-founded Optel Inc., a private operator that served 250,000 subs in parts of California, Texas and Colorado before its sale in 1995 to Groupe Videotron.
