Entropic Communications, a founding member of the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA), said it has shipped its one-millionth c.LINK-270 chipset.

The chip has been in production for less than 18 months, and has been shipped to customers such as 2Wire, Actiontec, Alcatel, Linksys, Motorola, Mototech, Scientific Atlanta and Westell, among others.

Of that group, Motorola claims to have almost 500,000 MoCA-enabled consumer devices shipped, including a line of digital set-tops already being deployed by Verizon in support of the company's FiOS TV service.

On the personnel front, Entropic has promoted Tim Pappas to VP of operations.

Pappas, late of Mindspeed Technologies and Conexant Systems, will continue to manage Entropic's global supply chain, quality and reliability efforts, and head up product and testing engineering.
