Cebridge Connections closed its purchase of several systems from Cox Communications. The deal was announced last November.

Cebridge bought Cox systems in West Texas, serving the Lubbock, Midland, Amarillo, San Angelo and Abilene areas; in North Carolina, serving the Greenville, Rocky Mount, New Bern and Kinston areas; in Humboldt County and Bakersfield, Calif.; and purchased much of Middle America Cox (MAC), primarily comprised of operations in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. MAC also includes certain systems in Oklahoma, Mississippi and Missouri.

Excluded from the sale are some MAC operations serving the Northwest Arkansas and Lafayette, La. areas.

Cebridge, led by former Charter exec Jerry Kent, was established in 2003 with the acquisition of Classic Cable and then Kingwood Cable. In February, the company cut a deal to acquire systems in West Virginia and Virginia from Charter. Upon closing that deal later this year, the combined company will serve approximately 1.4 million customers.

Cebridge said it is also in the process of a name change. The holding company will be known as Cequel Communications, while the operating companies will do business as Suddenlink Communications.
