Electroline modem nets Euro-DOCSIS 2.0 okay
Electroline has received EuroDOCSIS certification for a cable modem that embeds the company's second-generation HMS (Hybrid Management Sub-layer) Status Monitoring Transponder.
Electroline, which has delivered "tens of thousands" of first-gen transponders to operators in North America, said the approval will help it set its sights on European HFC networks.
Electroline's second-gen transponder features a smaller footprint than the earlier version, and supports monitoring of legacy and HMS power supplies. In addition to Euro-DOCSIS, the product also implements SNMP and SCTE HMS, Electroline said.
This new breed of transponders leverages standard DOCSIS channels for monitoring and testing power supplies, rather than more traditional, but proprietary, methods.
