Borrowing a strategy used by several major U.S. telcos, EarthLink Inc. said it will bundle in video services through partnerships with EchoStar Communications and DirecTV.

EarthLink, which serves 5.1 million dial-up and broadband-enabled Internet subscribers, plans to introduce a discounted video bundle by the end of the first quarter. The ISP also said future plans "may" allow customers to pay for all services on one bill.

EarthLink said the move is part of a strategy to become "a total communications company" that offers the coveted trio of voice, video and data services.
