BellSouth, DirecTV re-up marketing pact

BellSouth will continue to market a service bundle that includes satellite-delivered video following an extended, five-year deal with DirecTV Inc..

BellSouth, which also has IPTV plans in the works, said it has more than 523,000 subs taking the DirecTV bundle. The telco launched its "BellSouth Answers" service combo in 2004. BellSouth said it is responsible for the sales and ordering functions of the arrangement, while DirecTV handles installations for telco customers who take the satellite TV service.

Under terms of the new agreement, DirecTV customers in BellSouth's nine-state service area can order DSL service directly from the DBS service provider.
