PerfTech has launched a broadband bulletin system targeted to smaller MSOs, Internet service providers and a new breed of "regionalized" WiFi hotspots in hotels, convention sites and airports.
Designed for systems with up to 100,000 subscribers, the company's "MiniPack" complements PerfTech's bulletin system for large cable operators. WideOpenWest, an overbuilder in the process of being sold to Avista Capital Partners, is among PerfTech's initial service operator customers.
PerfTech's system allows service operators to distribute a wide range of messages and bulletins to customers, including those related to customer service, billing, virus notifications, and Amber Alerts. Mini-Pack installations run about $1 per subscriber, the company said.
According to historical PerfTech stats, about 83 percent of high-speed Internet subs receive a provider's message within the first 24 hours. That number jumps to 90 percent within 48 hours, and north of 96 percent after a week.
