Two cable organizations typically linked to small- and mid-sized operators have decided to combine their annual meetings under one event.
The National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC), a programming and equipment buying co-op, and the American Cable Association (ACA), a cable lobbying group, will head up a newly-named confab, dubbed "The Independent Show." It's set to run July 30-Aug. 2 in Chicago.
Organizers said the new moniker reflects the evolution of the gathering, and the resulting "agenda will be a seamless mix of both organizations' sessions and events."
"What started years ago as the annual meetings of the two organizations to meet bylaw requirements has grown into a vibrant educational, networking and business forum for NCTC and ACA members," said NCTC President & CEO Jeff Abbas, in a release.
He noted that it will remain a "members-only" event.
"The change to 'The Independent Show' recognizes the leadership role our ACA and NCTC members have assumed in the cable industry and in industry issues in Washington D.C.," added ACA President & CEO Matt Polka.
