MobiTV Inc. has launched the next generation of its mobile video service, promising a better user interface and increased frame rates.

MobiTV2, as it's called, is already being offered via "select" handsets from Sprint and Cingular.

The service presently supports more than 28 "channels" from networks such as CNBC, Fox Sports, ESPN, Discovery and TLC. MobiTV said it has more than 500,000 subscribers.

In addition to supporting cellular technologies, MobiTV has also moved ahead with a WiFi-enabled service for the Palm T|X that will offer up to 24 frames per second. The device will support MobiTV over home, corporate and public WiFi hotspots.

MobiTV also announced its support for the Palm Treo 600.
