Digital cable subs tend to be more tech-savvy than those who subscribe to satellite services or do not have cable, according to new consumer data from CTAM.

Among the research, the CTAM Pulse Tracking Home Entertainment study from December found that 16 percent of digital cable subs intend to purchase HD, 22 percent intend to buy video game systems, and 11 percent were looking to buy portable video players. This compared to a respective 8 percent, 13 percent and 5 percent among satellite customers that were surveyed.

CTAM's Influencers Survey, meanwhile, found that respondents said Internet access (44 percent) and mobile phones (27 percent) were the technologies that made the greatest improvement over the past decade.

In the same study, 51 percent said they were excited about the prospect of having prime time and classic television shows available on-demand, and 34 percent were looking forward to an expanding library of free on-demand movies.
