Atlantic Broadband is launching a set of IP telephony services in partnership with Net2Phone Inc.

The MSO initially is offering the service to about 145,000 subs in central Pennsylvania. Atlantic Broadband also operates cable sites in parts of Maryland, Delaware and Florida.

Under the deal, Net2Phone will serve as the primary VoIP integrator. The deployment with Atlantic Broadband will feature the Cedar Point Communications' SAFARI C³, a platform that combines several PacketCable network elements into one device, including the call management server and media gateway controller.

The MSO is launching the service for $29.95 per month when bundled with video or Internet services. It runs $44.95 per month as a standalone service.

Atlantic Broadband marks the latest MSO to deploy VoIP in partnership with Net2Phone. Other operators that have taken the plunge with the "turnkey" provider include Liberty CableVision of Puerto Rico, Bresnan Communications, Millennium Digital Media, Northland Communications, and CMA Communications.
