SEMO Communications  has partnered with ParaSun Technologies Inc. to offer PacketCable-based IP telephony services to customers in Missouri.

Under the deal, ParaSun, in tandem with Big River, a local ILEC that is serving as SEMO's third-party VoIP provider, will handle provisioning of the cable operator's  primary line telephony service via its CableRocket Management System (CRMS).

In addition to provisioning, the CRMS also provides visibility into the operational conditions of the cable plant and the IP traffic crossing the network, ParaSun said.

SEMO offers cable services to about 4,000 homes passed in the southeast region of Missouri.

"We have been supplying SEMO Communications with Internet support solutions for more than two years, and are pleased to play a role in the expansion of their Internet business to include VoIP," said ParaSun VP of Sales Mike Schmidt, in a release.
