Sprint calls up patent suit against Vonage
Sprint Nextel Corp. is claiming broadband Internet telephony provider Vonage Holdings Corp. has stepped on some of its voice-over-IP patents in a suit filed this week before the U. S. District Court for the District of Kansas.
The suit, which also names Vonage partners Voiceglo Holdings Inc. and Voiceglo parent theglobe.com Inc., claims the companies have willfully infringed on seven patents related to packet voice technology. Those patents protect key innovations in processing and delivering packet voice and data communications, including VoIP applications, according to the filing.
Sprint Nextel is seeking an injunction that would prevent Vonage, Voiceglo and theglobe.com from using technology based on the suits, as well as unspecified monetary damages.
