EarthLink is going to DisneyLand. The ISP has scored an exclusive contract to build-out a Wi-Fi network for the city of Anaheim, Calif. Financial terms were not disclosed.

EarthLink said it plans to deploy a 50-square-mile-wide mesh network there in a phased approach using Tropos Networks' MetroMesh Wi-Fi routers, which will be installed on light poles. The first such phase will be comprised of a two-square-mile "proof of concept" area for testing. The remainder of the city-wide network will be completed by Q4 2006, EarthLink said.

"This solution will provide an alternative to traditional high-speed Internet offerings and give users an affordable option to stay connected no matter when and no matter where they are in Anaheim," said Donald Berryman, EVP of EarthLink and president of the company's municipal networks division.

EarthLink did not disclose pricing, other than to say the WiFi network would offer "inexpensive" access for Anaheim's residents and visitors.
