Earlier this week, about 94 percent of the MSO's IP telephony subs had responded and "accepted" the information about the limitations via the electronic bulletin system. About 81 percent accepted within the first 10 days of the campaign, which began Aug. 19, the companies said.
Last month, the Federal Communications Commission extended a deadline for "interconnected" VoIP service providers to comply with e911 mandates. The extension gives those providers until Sept. 28 to obtain affirmative acknowledgements from all subscribers that they have read and understood an advisory concerning the limitations for VoIP e911 service. Operators are mandated to disconnect subscribers who do not acknowledge those limitations by the deadline.
