Canadian cable MSO Vidéotron is supporting IP telephony services with General Bandwidth's PacketCable-qualified G6 Universal Media Gateway. Vidéotron is using the system to provide primary line VoIP services across Quebec. The MSO initially launched the service along Montreal's South Shore in January, and has since launched it in the Quebec City area and in the wider Montreal area. About 75,000 customers are taking the operator's VoIP service. The G6 is designed to support both Class 5 switches and next-gen IP voice services.
