Taking a page from cable and DSL service providers, satellite broadband specialist WildBlue Communications is offering free anti-virus software to its high-speed customers.
The company is providing free F-Secure anti-virus software, which carries a retail value of about $40.
"With growing concerns about online security, we believe providing a free, award-winning, anti-virus program will help ensure the quality of that experience," said WildBlue CEO Tom Moore, in a release. On Sept. 1, Moore is set to step down from that post to become a WildBlue board member, and to be succeeded by David Leonard, the president of Liberty Global Inc.'s Latin American Division.
WildBlue, which launched service earlier this year, also introduced a 30-day money back guarantee to all new subscribers. Those who are not fully satisfied will be eligible for a refund of WildBlue equipment and the first monthly service fee. WildBlue is not refunding installation costs, however.
