Kaitz to honor 'Diversity Champions'
Adding a new twist to the annual Walter Kaitz Foundation dinner, this year's fete will honor four "Diversity Champions" from the cable industry, and one "Diversity Advocate."
The Diversity Champions, recognized for their work to encourage diversity in the cable and telecom industries, are Glenn Britt, chairman & CEO, Time Warner Cable; and three executives with Cox Communications: SVP and Chief People Officer Mae Douglas; SVP, Legal and Regulatory Affairs James Hatcher; and VP of Materials Management Sherryl Love.
The Diversity Advocate Award will be bestowed on U.S. Rep. Mel Watt (D-NC, 12th District). Watt is also the chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus. The award is presented to a person "external to the industry" who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to diversity.
The 22nd annual Kaitz dinner is scheduled for Sept. 14 at the Hilton New York. Last year's event raised $1.4 million, and attracted more than 1,400 participants.
