• JDS closes Acterna deal
JDS Uniphase Corp. (JDSU) has completed an earlier announced deal to acquire test and measurement specialist Acterna Inc.

The final deal was valued at $450 million in cash, and about 200 million shares of JDS Uniphase common stock.

JDSU said the deal doubles the size of its "addressable" communications market to more than $5 billion, and expands its portfolio to include IP-based data, voice and video services offered over fiber-to-the-home, DSL and cable networks.

• GLDS, IBBS polish off integration
Great Lakes Data Systems Inc. (GLDS) said it has integrated its PC-based "WinCable" subscriber management and billing system with Integrated BroadBand Services LLC's BroadBand Explorer service management, diagnostics and provisioning platform.

Integration was facilitated by GLDS' Service Provisioning Gateway, a platform that enables activation of advanced services via third-party service provisioning platforms. The combination creates single-entry provisioning directly from the billing system.
