Time Warner Cable is going wider with its Wi-Fi plans, announcing that it has signed a multiyear agreement with Wi-Fi systems provider NetNearU Corp. to add to its wireless broadband rollout already underway in its service territories.
Time Warner has been deploying NetNearU's Speed Zone hotspot sites already, offering its Road Runner high-speed data subscribers free access, and the new agreement will extend the deployment across the MSO's markets.
NetNearU is supplying Time Warner with its TRACKOS software, allowing the speedy deployment of Wi-Fi network connections. It also provides roaming settlement services so that subscribers can access Speed Zone hotspots anywhere in Time Warner territory.
"Time Warner Cable is clearly a leader in their industry within the Wi-Fi space. It is evident that Time Warner has a clear vision of how to make Wi-Fi deployments successful and we are excited to partner with them in the deployment of their Wi-Fi Speed Zone product," said Cody Catalena, NNU's president and chief operating officer.
