IMAKE and Alticast have partnered to create a portfolio of standards-based software for video-on-demand and interactive television.
The deal brings together IMAKE, a provider of video-on-demand asset management platforms, with Alticast, a maker of iTV systems that enable service providers to create, manage and monitor iTV apps for OCAP (OpenCable Application Platform) and MHP (Multimedia Home Platform).
The collaboration gives each vendor the ability to offer pre-integrated iTV and VOD products. They plan to market their respective wares — including IMAKE's OpenVision on-demand platform and Alticast's range of middleware and iTV products — to telcos and cable operators.
"By partnering with Alticast, IMAKE is effectively extending its reach into the set-top box for the first time to offer a complete solution from the headend to the customer premises," said IMAKE VP of Marketing and Business Development Steven Sweeney.
One of IMAKE's biggest customers is Comcast Cable. Alticast, which has yet to break the North American market, has deployments in China, Korea and Europe.
